Q. What's electric bike?

An electric bike uses a battery to drive an electric motor to push you along. To be legally considered as an ordinary bicycle an electric bike must have pedals, weigh less than 40 kg, have a motor less than 250 Watts and restricted to 25 kph (15.5 mph). All 3E Electric bikes conform to this specification.

Q. How far can it go?

Using a standard 10AH battery, the throttle range (100% power) is up to 20 miles. We have performed many times at an average speed of 14.3 mph.

Using mostly pedal assist, we did achieve 47 miles. With the new mega range battery, we achieved 85 miles without throttle.

Q. How fast can it go?

All electric bikes are restricted to 15.5 mph (25 kph) restricted.This is a legal requirement. You can pedal as fast as you like.

Q. How long does the battery last?

3E electric only select the best quality batteries. They are all garanteed for 2 years and at least 1000 charging cycles.

Q. How much is a replacement battery?

36V 10Ah battery pack for our electric bike cost £ 370.

Q. What do I need to ride an electric bike?

You do not need any insurance or road tax to ride an electric bike. Nor do you need a license. The only requirement is that you must be more than 14 years old.

Q. Can I leave it on charge overnight?

Yes

Q. Must I wear a helmet?

Although you are not legally required to wear a helmet when riding an electric bike, we strongly recommend that you do so for your own safety.

Q. How much does it cost to charge my 3E bike?

The capacity of the battery for a 36V 10 Ah pack is 360Wh. Depending your electricity supplier, if 1KWh costs 14 pence, it will cost 5.04 pence to charge up a completely flat battery.

Q. Why Mark II?

3E CityLight Mark II electric bike was re-designed to be more simple, robust and service friendly. Over 20 improvements were made to improve the efficiency, range, weight and riding comfort. Of course most importantly, we introduced the Modular Design.

Q. What is Modular Design?

Thought you would never ask! Unlike many electric bikes on the market, the entire external electrical system of a CityLight MK II is connected by water-proof connectors. This means replacing, servicing or upgrading the electrical components is extremely easy.

This has the additional benefit of reducing connection problems.
